Who is behind it?
I'm Daniel Gueli, a double bassist in Amsterdam, half Dutch and half Italian. Gypsy jazz is my life — and more than 25,000 people now follow my Gypsy Jazz Channel on YouTube.
Besides playing, I'm building Gypsy Jazz Hub, a place for the whole community: jam sessions, musicians, concerts and festivals. For it, I made an alert system for musicians and fans. A friend from that same scene came to me. He was fed up with searching for a home: every week the same sites again, hours lost, and running into the same listings over and over because he had long forgotten what he had already seen. It frustrated him enormously. He asked if I could build the same thing for rental homes.
We went to see whether something like that already existed — and were shocked by the price: 50 cents a day!! We charge 6 euros a year, 50 cents a month. Because the system already existed, we can offer it for a few euros a year. For students we also made a separate site, RoomDeadline, where you pay a one-time one euro.
